What is equal parenting?

In the autumn of last year, a new legal presumption was introduced: that when a couple separates the involvement of both parents in the life of their children will further the children’s welfare, provided there are no safety concerns. “Involvement” in this context means involvement of some kind, either direct or indirect, but not any particular division of a child’s time. It’s been a couple of weeks now since the government released its consultation document about the changes it wants to make to the Children Act 1989.
