How we do it

Cambridge Family Law Practice offers a wide range of options for resolving your family law issues.

  • We can negotiate traditionally with the other person’s solicitor, using correspondence and round-table meetings as a way of making progress.; and,
  • We can prepare your case and present it in court, with the aim of reaching settlement or of asking a judge to make a decision if it’s not possible to agree.
  • We are mediators, and can help you and the other person come to your own agreement, offering impartial information on the law as we do so.
  • We also independently provide MIAMs (Mediation Information and Assessment Meetings), which are generally compulsory for those intending to commence court proceedings, and advise people as they go through the mediation process, or on understandings reached during mediation.
  • We offer and recommend the option of collaborative law, a process where both people and their lawyers work together with other professionals as necessary to reach a fair and workable solution to the family’s problems.
  • If you need support during the process, we’re able to refer you to one of our trusted network of independent counsellors, independent financial advisors, accountants and other experts with whom we work regularly to ensure the best outcome for our clients.
